VALENTINE’S DAY 2023: RHAPSODIES AND BOSSA NOVA

On Valentine’s Day, February 14, at 19 In Riga, at the Great Guild, the orchestra “RIga”, pianist Andrejs Osokins and singer Aija Vītoliņa invite you to a romantic concert “Rendez Vous at Valentine’s Day”.

The concert program will include two rhapsodies performed by Osokina and the orchestra – Raimonds Pauls rhapsody for piano and orchestra, George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue”, a selection of the most beautiful songs from the opera “Porgy and Bess” performed by the orchestra, and Antonio Carlos Jobim’s “bossa nova” musical pearl sung by Aija Vitolina together with the orchestra.
“Bossa nova” is suitable for this celebration, which is characterized by lightness, airiness, joy and love,” thinks Aija Vītoliņa. “The upcoming concert is like a harbinger of the carefree spring that we are so looking forward to.”
On the other hand, pianist Andrejs Osokins, the stronger gender soloist of “Valentine’s Day Dates”, expresses his joy about the repertoire entrusted to him: “It will be an opportunity to play the works of two masters, Gershwin and Pauls, who are equally brilliant in jazz and academic music, in one concert. It will be a challenge for the musicians and a special joy and pleasure for the listeners. This music thrills me to the core, so I am sure that the concert will not leave listeners indifferent and it will be a real Valentine’s Day celebration in music.”
The artistic director and conductor of the concert is Valdis Butāns, the host of the evening is Raitis Zapackis.
