At the Good Friday concert, which will be performed on March 29, in Riga’s St. John’s Church, the center of the program are the names of two important sacred music composers. The music of this year’s jubilee Latvian composer Rihards Dubra. We will hear “Adagio appassionato”, composed for wind orchestra, and another composer’s original music “Lux aeterna” written for saxophone quartet.
David Maslanka’s “Concerto for Saxophone Quartet and Wind Orchestra” will be performed as the premiere in Latvia, which is globally appreciated as a musical work that reflects great emotional and spiritual intensity. Riga Saxophone Quartet will join Orchestra RIGA under the leadership of conductor Valdis Butāns.
